SAFETY ON A BOAT

So you now have your boat but before venturing out to sea you need some saftey equipment.
The sea is not very forgiving so you need to have a minimum of equipment to survive most problems.

My Suggested Requirements - not in any particular order are:

Good anchor and enough rope to hold the boat in a strong swell and ideally a second anchor and rope ready for use
Lifejackets and/or floatation suit
Compass
Torch
First Aid kit
Spare fuel
Flares - White, Red and Orange
Tools for repairs to engine and spares
VHF Radio
Charts/Maps
Fire Extinguisher
Clock/watch
Hull repair kit
Bailer/bucket
Horn
Spare rope
Navigation lights
